A genuine 1930 China 10 Customs Gold Unit Bank Note

 

The customs gold unit (CGU) was a currency issued by the Central Bank of China between 1930 and 1948. Initially used for customs payments, it was put into general circulation for use by the public in 1942. These notes were printed by American Bank Note Company and dated 1930. The vertical face depicts Dr. Sun Yat-sen, first president of the Republic of China and a revered fi gure in mainland China and Taiwan. The back features the Customs House in Shanghai – the commercial and financial hub of China.
